The story is simple. A city has lost their way. People are not kind, they don't take care of or help each other. They don't know the meaning of or even celebrate Christmas any more.
A stranger shows up and shows them all, through his kindness and gentle actions, the meaning of Christmas. But it's more than that really, it's how to be a good person, how to live your life.
I'm not really sure what captured my imagination so much as a child. Was it the vivid illustrations or the simple message which reinforced my catholic schooling? Whatever it was, it left a lasting impression. I've shared this wonderful book with my children every year. This year I had Jamie read it to me which was fun because then I could just enjoy the pictures!
Can you simplify some things in your life? What is really important in the grand scheme of things? If you are really honest with yourself you will find a lot of time consuming "stuff" you can do without. It is a much more rewarding lifestyle.
