We've been so busy the last few months that even the kids don't have time to do anything. When you run a family business everyone helps out or you sink. That's just the way it is.
My kids make me laugh. The laughter in our household keeps us all sane and keeps us together. Not all our jokes are appropriate or even funny but we still laugh. Tonight, Jamie made me laugh with a little bit of teariness too. We were driving home and she was talking about all the houses with Christmas lights. "I wanna know where they store all that stuff", she said. On and on she goes about where it must all go and how do they have time to do it all. "They must not have as big a life as we do." BOOM.
I said, "What?", just to make sure I heard her correctly. I did. She makes me proud everyday. But that really caught me off guard. She doesn't see what we do as a sacrifice or realize how much they go without. She thinks we live a "Big" life. I think that's amazing.
Footnote: they just dragged the Christmas tree up from the garage (which is at least 300 feet down the gravel driveway) and are yelling for me to get downstairs to see it. Hard not to get in the spirit!
